Kristos
IXIOMO

The hand carved wooden crucifix is from my father's family side.  Story has it that on one stormy night, my father (who was a young teen then) was alone at home in Tabaco, Albay (Bicol), begun seeing dark red blood coming out of the chest area of the statue. Subsequent investigation by the elders eliminated any external source. He asked his parents for the crucifix as he got older and brought it along with him when we immigrated to the US. He took it back with him to the Philippines when he decided to retire there. When he passed away 3 months later, I personally hand-carried this family heirloom all the way back to the US with me to fulfill his bequeath to a sister.

The Ixiomo emanates a very powerful presence. Just looking at up close makes you shiver. The eyes seem to be always watching you wherever you move to have another look. During Easter week, this amazing figure partakes in annual religious processions. I recall the many times when a bunch of young cousins and I gather together to pull the karo along streets of Malolos.

Story of the Jesu Cristo told by my mother is indeed miraculous. During a raging fire that was burning nearby homes in Malolos, Bulacan, my lolo Arcadio picked up the crucifix from the home's altar and placed it by a window which was facing the fire heading towards the family house. The fire jumped over and skipped our house as the fire burned a couple of adjacent houses before the fire was extinguished.

I am pleased to report that all these priceless heirlooms are in great hands and care by very responsible and protective family members. The power and enigma still emanates... even now.

Do you believe in miracles? This is a virtual experiment. Touch the photos on the screen, meditate and contemplate... and then ask for intercession. Do let me know if something happens.
